Objectives: To train teachers in critical thinking and its teaching: to be competent oneself (skills related to the competition) and to know how to transpose these contents into a pedagogical situation.

Targeted competencies:
1. To master the stakes and theoretical bases of critical thinking education
2. To make the link between one's discipline/speciality and critical thinking education
3. Develop the skills and know-how to implement critical thinking education

Main themes covered :
- Theoretical bases of critical thinking, issues, problems and objectives. Why and how to train critical thinking?
- Basic epistemology, difference between beliefs, opinions and knowledge, scale of evidence, elaboration of scientific knowledge, distinction between the registers of judgment.
- Role of the teacher in managing controversial issues.
- Issues in transferring critical analysis skills into everyday life. Cognitive biases and heuristics of judgment, metacognition and calibration of trust, conspiracy theories, fake news (their effects and the limits of criticism). How to work on these issues for oneself and with students.
- Debate and argumentation: how to work on critical thinking through debate and argumentation. Identifying paralogisms, sophisms and other fallacious arguments.
- Critical thinking, values of the Republic and the posture of the teacher: how to do it?

Implementation methods:
The course mixes classic presentation moments, numerous exchanges and group work, videos and examples taken from the classroom or from the more general educational framework, and a lot of discussions with the participants. The course will take place over three full days (Tuesdays), with the last day devoted to evaluation and discovery of a practical implementation (ADER workshops).

Evaluation:
The evaluation work consists of a short oral presentation (+ submission of the slide show) on the last day and allowing to illustrate a pedagogical action implemented (or planned) on the theme of critical thinking education.
