Research and International Cooperation in Education

The Pôle Recherche et Coopération Internationale en Education (PRCIE) is responsible for implementing the Inspé's scientific and international policy. As a development tool for the Inspé, the PRCIE's activities are in line with the university's international strategy, while at the same time following the guidelines set by the Inspé's policies. The PRCIE ensures that research teams participate in the development of Inspé's international dimension in both training and research; to this end, they receive all the help they need from the Pôle to integrate international research and development programs and respond to various calls for projects.

With numerous agreements in place with some of the world's most prestigious faculties of education, as well as with teacher training institutions around the globe, the Inspé is open to the world and acts as a leader or partner in training, research and expertise projects.

Thanks to a solid network of partnerships, the Inspé's three main geographical areas of involvement are Europe, the Mediterranean and sub-Saharan Africa, and in recent years has extended to Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia.

PRCIE missions

  • Area 1: Research and training project engineering

The PRCIE supports research and/or training teams in the design, development and follow-up of annual or multi-annual projects at administrative and financial level, in collaboration with the Resources and Means Department. It keeps a strategic watch on calls for projects and funding programs (training, research and expertise) and informs all teams of calls for projects or existing programs likely to provide funding.

  • Area 2: Support for national and international scientific events and activities

This mission aims to support all research and training activities organized by Inspé, ADEF or SFERE-Provence. In particular, it coordinates and organizes incoming and outgoing mobility for students, teachers, lecturers and administrative staff involved in a research or training program or project. The PRCIE can also provide technical and logistical support for the organization of national and international scientific events. It works in close collaboration with AMU departments, notably the Direction de la Valorisation et de la Recherche (DRV) and the Direction des Relations Internationales (DRI), as well as with academic and institutional partners in France and abroad.

  • Area 3: Supporting, mobilizing and structuring expertise in education and training

The Inspé mobilizes its expertise in education, training and management in the French-speaking world first and foremost, and internationally in general.

The PRCIE monitors multilateral funding agencies (EU, WB, ADB, AUF...) and national international cooperation agencies (France, Canada...) with regard to calls for tender concerning the countries targeted by the Inspé's development strategy, and supports the development of networks run by the Inspé (RAIFFET, RIFFEF, REUNIFFED...). The PRCIE collaborates with a number of operators and think tanks, and works in consortia with local universities or private organizations, notably in response to calls for expressions of interest, in order to meet local constraints (language, logistics, time spent in the country, etc.). The Pôle calls on Inspé teaching staff to conduct expert appraisals for various programs. The PRCIE participates in European Commission initiatives by taking part in meetings organized by the EACEA, the REA and the French Erasmus + agency. The Pôle encourages Inspé teaching and administrative staff to join the Commission's database of experts, and to evaluate projects submitted to the various programs on behalf of the agencies. The PRCIE participates in the development of French expertise within the framework of the associations that structure it (IDEFIE, EvalUE).

  • Area 4: Administration and management of research and innovation

The PRCIE coordinates the resources and budgets allocated to research. It provides the necessary support for the SFERE-Provence research federation (FED 4238), the ADEF research unit (UR 4671) and the associated doctoral program. The PRCIE provides administrative and pedagogical support for doctoral students enrolled in the doctoral program in educational sciences attached to the ED 356 Doctoral School, and is also responsible for the administration and management of educational research activities, innovation and resource production. The PRCIE helps to disseminate the research produced by Inspé researchers (organization of colloquia, symposia and conferences, information on publications).

  • Area 5: International mobility

The Inspé promotes and develops international mobility for its students and staff. It welcomes foreign students wishing to obtain a high-level degree - Master's and PhD - in the fields of teaching, education and training, adapting their studies to each of the courses on offer. These students benefit from a personalized welcome at the PRCIE. The Pôle manages partnership agreements with universities, which organize incoming and outgoing mobility for Inspé staff and students.

Training the trainers

In terms of training for trainers, the Pôle pilots the hosting of groups of teachers, educators, trainers and education sector executives from numerous countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, in particular in response to calls for training tenders issued by our partners, ministries, governments or international organizations.
