General objectives :

  • To integrate the knowledge of the Defense in the curriculum of the students of the Inspé and thus in the future practices of teachers
  • To understand the stakes of defense and security in the accompaniment of the construction of an informed citizen
  • To promote the spirit of defense and national security in an effective implementation of education for citizen commitment.

Specific objectives

  • Accompany the students to make the link between the two professions in order to identify the convergences but also the specificities in the achievement of the objectives assigned by their respective missions.
  • Identify the pedagogical tools and levers to synergize the spirit of defense with the commitment of citizenship
  • To build a knowledge base allowing students to progress in their professionalization and to overcome initial representations.
  • To propose spaces for exchanges with defense professionals.

Teaching methods

  • Round tables with speakers from the Zone Défense Sécurité Sud: presentations, questions and exchanges to understand the current issues of defense and national security and their interactions with the world of education.
    The new challenges of international security; France's defense policy; organization of defense; presentation of the armed forces, branches and services; defense industrial issues; the military community, recruitment and career paths; the Armed Forces-Nation Link; commitment to the community.
  • A visit to an army site and interaction with a defense class (school or college)
  • Board game: decision-making process and implementation of the 5 strategic functions
  • Design of a class project around the students' commitment and the spirit of defense

Training expectations :

A1. Bases his/her action on the principles and issues of the education system, the values of the republican school, the frame of reference and the regulatory and ethical framework of the profession

  • Identify the stakes of teaching the spirit of defense (regulatory framework, ethics and in particular the principles of neutrality and secularity, notion of commitment and citizenship).
  • To know the organizational methods of an EPLE for the implementation of a project (and in particular the role of the board of directors or the school council, the place of the hierarchical authority, planning and teamwork)
  • Know the principles of Defense and Citizenship

C4. Exploits the possibilities offered by digital tools and environments to update knowledge and communicate with peers.

  • Establish a cooperative and collaborative work around the project pedagogy (creation of a Padlet of restitution and a Pearltress of shared documentation)
  • Work on the selection of resources (reliability)

Evaluation situation:
Digital production presenting the project designed throughout the module.
