Immersive practice of an EVL in a professional context

Composants du corps de la page

Objectives and topics covered in EU3
This module aims to introduce students to bilingual or "immersive" teaching in education, known under different names: CLIL (Content and Language Intergrated Learning), DNL (Discipline Non Linguistique), CLIL (Enseignement d'une Matière Intégrée à la Langue Etrangère) or EDIL (Ecole D'Immersion en Langues) in our academy. In this type of program, a second foreign language (L2) is used to build disciplinary knowledge and skills while reinforcing language learning. Immersive teaching, like this UE3, is part of a plurilingual and intercultural education. The courses are held in French and English (reception) but the student will be able to choose his or her preferred language for the final production (German, English, Arabic, Spanish, Italian, ...).

Target audience:

This UE3 is particularly aimed at students who already have solid language skills in LVE (B2 level minimum):
- students of Mention 1 and 2 wishing to present the Complementary Certification and to orient themselves towards immersive teaching in the 1st or 2nd degree;
- students in technological and professional courses who will be teaching in pairs with a language teacher;
- CPE and documentalist students wishing to engage in international projects;
- students of foreign languages wishing to open up to multi-disciplinary projects and immersive practices.

Principles of pedagogical organization and teaching methods
This course combines face-to-face, remote and hybrid teaching methods with a half-day of observation in the field, as well as time for independent and group work.

Evaluation methods
The student will outline in his or her preferred foreign language an immersive teaching session which is part of a project aiming at international openness and interculturality. The mini-project will be presented in the form of a video clip of 5 to 10 minutes maximum. Individual or group work is optional.

Competences evaluated (UE3 = 3ECTS)
Mentions 1, 2 and 3
A6b : Practice a foreign language at level B2 in a professional context : the UE allows you to validate this expected level beyond level 2 and to value your linguistic skills.

A8 : Participate in the reflection and collective work set up in your school : the UE favours team work, international and interdisciplinary projects.
