  • International Research Symposium on the Didactics of Mathematics 2020 - Space and Geometry

    From 4 to 6 November 2020
    Site Inspé d'Aix-en-Provence, 2 avenue Jules Isaac, 13 100 Aix-en-Provence, France.

The RDiMath2020 Symposium aims to present the latest work, to deepen certain theoretical questions and to open up new reflections, both on the approach to geometry itself and its link with the structuring of space, and on teaching in classrooms, the dissemination of resources, the use of different artefacts (digital or tangible) or teacher training in this field.

The symposium is a continuation of meetings between geometry coursemakers organized over the past three years.

The work of this symposium is organized according to different mechanisms which aim to..:

    • the study of different research sub-themes through conferences;
    • the dissemination of scientific news through posters;
    • discussion and exchanges through an organized questioning time.

The proceedings of the RDiMaths2020 international symposium will be published.

  • 3rd Scientific Meeting of SFERE-Provence

Meeting day for researchers, doctors, doctoral students, master's students whose research work is in the field of "learning and education". It aims to create structuring synergies in the field of educational research within the federative structure, according to current issues at national and local level.

  • 2nd Scientific Meeting of SFERE-Provence

    September 27, 2018 at ESPE in Aix-en-Provence

This day gave rise to a meeting between researchers who wish to work in the field of "learning and education", as it is now defined in the framework of AMU. More specifically, these days aim to create structuring synergies in the field of educational research within the federative structure, according to current issues at national and local level.

This meeting took place in two high points:

    • 1st time: a poster session where each team posted its work. The participants were able to discuss around the posters with members of the scientific community of SFERE-Provence.
    • 2nd stage: a 3-minute oral presentation to the general public based on a slide show describing the main lines of the research in progress or the project, each presentation was followed by a discussion.

  • Neodoc Seminars

    From 28 November 2018 to 4 March 2020

Neodoc organizes inter-laboratory groupings between doctors and between doctors and researchers, in order to be able to regularly exchange in seminars beyond the borders of their respective laboratories. The objective is to give the opportunity to doctors, post-doctoral students, ATER, associate researchers, etc., who do not have the status of teacher-researchers but who wish to enrich their skills, to meet to share their experiences, their methodological approaches, their theoretical references.
Some Neodoc seminars are also likely to be integrated into the doctoral training of the ADEF laboratory.

    Events supported by SFERE-Provence

  • Émile Durkheim's pedagogical evolution in France in all its news (1889-2019) - Inter'ESPE Study Days

    24 and 25 October 2018 Lyon / 17 and 18 January 2019 Marseille

L'Évolution pédagogique en France (EPF), a posthumous work by Durkheim (1858-1917) published eighty years ago (in 1938), has become a classic, not without misunderstandings or misinterpretations. The same is true of all his writings on education, all the more so since they also open up to a sociology of knowledge, often in connection with a sociology of religion. And they play a decisive but little-known role in the founding by Durkheim and Mauss (1872-1950) of a "concrete general sociology" (Mauss, 1934).

The aim of these days is to better understand the foundations and specificity of the Durkheimian project that the EPF is showing, the readings that have been made of it, and all the contributions that it has been able to elicit, in order to understand the sociology of education from yesterday to today, in France and abroad.

  • Create to educate, for school perseverance

Following the events linked to the health crisis, the conference "Creating for Education" initially planned for 7 and 8 July 2020 in Aix-en-Provence, France, has been postponed to October or November 2020.

Following the first two conferences " Create to educate. The place of transdisciplinarity "and" Create to educate. Democratic education through the arts" In the framework of the programme "The creative gesture and the formative activity" (GCAF) of EA 4671 ADEF, the persons in charge of the programme "The creative gesture and the formative activity" (GCAF) of EA 4671 ADEF propose a call for papers for a third session entitled "Create to educate, in favour of school perseverance".

    General presentation
Dropping out is a long process. It is often difficult to detect it before it is actually noticed. Academic factors are important, but they overlap with other family, social and personal factors (Blaya & Fortin, 2011; Bernard, 2019; Bruno, Félix & Saujat, 2017). The fight against dropping out of school has become a major issue in education policies in France and Europe (Verdier, 2019; Condat & Plumelle, 2003; Fazekas, 2011). The national plan against dropping out of school, launched at the start of the 2014 school year and the nationwide roll-out of "perseverance weeks" the following year (Circular No. 2015-085 of 3-6-2015), aims to mobilize educational teams, students and sometimes their parents, and thus enable dropouts to become involved in learning and to persevere. In addition, more and more research days are being held on this issue, and national and European projects are also being undertaken.

  • Scientific Day School and Discrimination, Thinking about relations of domination in education priority

    5 February 2020

This scientific day was an opportunity to present current research conducted in schools and colleges of priority education in France. It is the continuation and expansion of the work of reflection initiated as part of the symposium "Seeing the school from Marseille: for an intersectional approach to relations of domination in priority education", organized as part of the AREF international congress in Bordeaux in July 2019.

Thus, based on work on the city centre and northern districts of Marseille, a city characterised by the extent of its socio-economic inequalities and its strong segregation logic (Audren, Baby-Collin, 2017), this day was an opportunity to discuss work on other priority education territories, broadening, in a comparative perspective, reflection and questioning.

In the theoretical and methodological perspective of a critical approach to education through social sciences, this study day allowed a visibility of the logics and complex processes of domination and prioritization in the context of priority education.

In order to promote dialogue between research and education professionals, the day gave the latter the opportunity to speak and ended with a round table comparing the research work with the perspectives of actors in the field, presenting their practices, approaches and solutions that they implement on a daily basis.

  • Seminar Inequalities and Democratisation in Education (IDEE)

    January 30, 2020Inspé Aix | Room D1 | 2 to 4:30 pm

"What do teachers tell us about the causes of academic failure? "by Jean Ravenstein (PU emeritus Education Sciences, University of Aix-Marseille, ADEF EA 4671)

Within the framework of a cycle of interlaboratory seminars (LAMES, ADEF, TELEMME, IREMAM, LEST, CHERPA) on the issues of Inequality and Democratisation in Education (IDEE), the intervention of Jean Ravenstein (PU Emeritus Sciences of Education, University of Aix-Marseille, ADEF EA 4671) will take place on Thursday 30th January 2020 from 10:00 to 12:30 at the Inspé AMU of Aix en Provence (room D1). It will provide elements to answer the question: "What do teachers tell us about the causes of school failure? »

Rationale: While the management of students with difficulties is the daily life of teachers, research has singularly little questioned their point of view on what mainly causes these difficulties. Psychologists and sociologists put forward well known leads, but what do the first concerned think? An ADEF team carried out a survey to which more than 8000 teachers, from kindergarten to high school throughout the country, responded. We are going to explain its method and discuss its main results.

Event free and open to all
